Per-Otto Johansson new General Music Director in Detmold

The Swedish conductor Per-Otto Johansson will be the new General Music Director at the Landestheater Detmold from the coming season. His contract runs for four years.

Artistic Director Georg Heckel: "I am delighted to have brought in Per-Otto Johansson, a proven outstanding musician for the Landestheater Detmold, who will contribute to the further development of the Landestheater with his integrative personality." The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Landestheater Detmold GmbH, District Administrator Dr. Axel Lehmann, also shares the joy about the successful conclusion of the selection process that has been ongoing for some time.

I look forward to the journey together with the entire Landestheater Detmold and all the staff. Together we will develop and grow professionally as a unit," says the designated new general music director.

Per Otto Johansson has worked in Sweden and Denmark with leading orchestras such as the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and gained experience at the Royal Opera Stockholm and the Royal Opera Copenhagen. He completed his studies with distinction in 2003 with Professor Michel Tabachnik at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Master classes with Kurt Sanderling and Manfred Honeck provided further impetus, and mentors were Leif Segerstam and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
