Pablo García-López joins Interartists Amsterdam for general management

We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with the Spanish tenor Pablo García-López, one of today’s rising stars of the European opera and concert stages. He is praised by El Mundo for the “decisive beauty of his light-lyric timbre, his unquestionable musicality and communicability.”
In the last few years, he has made acclaimed appearances on Spain’s most prestigious stages, leading to international debuts at opera houses such as Royal Opera Wallonie de Liège, Opera de Lausanne, Royal Opera House of Muscat, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía de Valencia and Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse. He has worked with Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Jesús López-Cobos, and Omer Meir Wellber, among other conductors.
His 2021/22 season includes a return to Opéra de Lausanne as Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro, and various role debuts: Benoît in La Bohème at the Teatro Real Madrid and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba. As a concert soloist, he will perform Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel’s Oratorium nach Bildern der Bibel with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, and will sing 2. Jude in Salomé, with David Afkham and the Orquesta Nacional de España, as he continues to expand his repertoire with more German works.

With his fresh sound and expressive delicacy, Pablo is particularly associated with the mozartian repertoire, having performed Ferrando in Così fan tutte at the Teatro Cervantes de Málaga, Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Ópera de Oviedo. Another of Pablo’s signature roles is Nemorino in L’Elisir d’amore: a role that suits him particularly and which he has sung many times in Spanish theatres, including a jump in at the last minute at the Ópera de Oviedo under the direction of Óliver Díaz.
A highlight of 2021 was the world premiere of the opera Tránsito (role: Pedro) by Jesús Torres in a coproduction of Teatro Real Madrid and Teatro Español, for which he received rave reviews. His passion for the new music has led him to perform several world premieres such as: Sinfonía Córdoba and Escenas de una primavera alemana by Lorenzo Palomo, the opera Café Kafka by Francisco Coll at the Palau de les Arts, the opera Fuenteovejuna by Muñiz at Ópera Oviedo, the opera El Guardián de los Cuentos by Miquel Ortega at the Baluarte in Pamplona. The song cycles Hijo Mío by Jesús Torres and Caminos de la tarde by Hermes Luaces, together with the pianist Aurelio Viribay.
His first solo album entitled Rutas with pianist Aurelio Viribay was released in 2020, featuring Spanish art songs from the 20th century by Edouard Toldrá, Oscar Esplá and the Andalusian composers Joaquín Reyes Cabrera and Ramón Medina Hidalgo. The album was awarded the "Melómano de Oro" by the music magazine Melómano. His discography is completed with Turandot Puccini (Decca) conducted by Zubin Mehta, Puccini's La Boheme (Accentus) conducted by Riccardo Chailly, and Palomo's Cordoba Symphony (Naxos) conducted by Jesús López-Cobos.
Born in Cordoba, Pablo García-López began his singing studies at the conservatory of his hometown with the tenor Juan Luque. Later, he perfected his singing studies at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Centre de Perfeccionamiento Plácido Domingo at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. He completed his training in Berlin with John Norris. In 2020 he was awarded the Bandera de las Artes de Andalucía.
