Conductor Yu Lu has joined Interartists Amsterdam for General Management

Defined by conductor Seiji Ozawa: “the most outstanding and talented young conductor that I have ever encountered in my life”.

Maestro Yu Lu was appointed in 2022 Principal guest conductor, the first ever at the Shanghai Opera House.

We're thrilled to welcome him aboard as a distinguished addition to our classical music family!

“I have recently met the young Chinese conductor, Yu Lu, and was very impressed by his devotion to music. Having watched a DVD of him conducting various works, it was apparent that this is a genuinely talented musician, with an excellent control of an orchestra and clear interpretative ideas.”

- Semyon Bychkov

Yu Lu’s projects in The Netherlands

When he was 22, recommended by masters in conducting such as Seiji Ozawa and Semyon Bychkov, Yu Lu was selected and invited by Maestro Mariss Jansons to participate in conducting masterclass, and conduct the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

In November 2014 Yu Lu conducted the 3rd Symphony of Brahms with the North Netherlands Orchestra. Before the interval they played the violin concerto of Korngold with Daniel Hope as soloist, broadcast live by NPO Radio 4.

Yu Lu participated in the recording of Camerata RCO for Gutman Records ‘Salon’, which was released worldwide.   Spotify

“Anyone committed to the longest work on this CD - Brahms' somewhat eccentric, lyrical and capricious five-movement Serenade No. 2 - deserves attention. In this case, it is Yu Lu who keeps the work's texture nicely breezy and doesn't let the tempi drag for a moment to keep the music lively and alert, revealing its special charm.”

I was most impressed by the way Yu Lu structured the whole movement of the Shostakovich. It felt very cohesive.
